Comparative study of tube to tubesheet welding qualification on heat exchanger

Abstract Plant turnarounds are one of the most critical events in Saudi Arabian oil and gas industries. Shutdowns have potential to affect plant’s cash flow objectives either a constructive nor bad way. A heat exchanger is an essential equipment for some procedures refineries plant it will decide shutdown span. In exchanger, welded tube tubesheet joint basic factor which requires different qualification. this paper, welding various material combination (carbon steel-stainless steel, stainless alloy steel-alloy steel) qualified. According American Society Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section IX QW-193 mock up qualification done QW-193.1 QW-193.1.3 (visual test, liquid penetrant test macro etching test) likewise followed lab tested acceptance criteria. Ten model welds needed determine eligibility each procedure according required standard totally 60 models (every 20) tried rate 3 record welder (PQR / WQTR). Qualification sheet from follows all variables referred QW-288. This study proposes improved minimum maximum value current (I), voltage (V), travel speed (mm/min) above said materials qualifications. Further discourse made over input (KJ/mm), after effects leak path things considered (Macro test), classifies range qualified against utilized base better understanding QW-288 .
